    Montenegro has it all – it boasts untouched extroverted peaks, gleaming and beautiful lakes, and a 628,222-strong population that is better known for the warm hospitality that they offer. The majestic Mount Lovćen here is proudly referred to as the heart of the country and the enchanting Adriatic Coast spans 273 km, is indented with immaculate sandy beaches that are a choice for a lot of people on most days, and features the elite Porto Montenegro, one of Europe’s increasingly popular luxury destinations. This natural harbour is home to superyachts, helicopter fleets, exquisite properties, and lavish nightclubs.

    The medieval town of Kotor, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where the mountainous landscape frames the Venetian, Austrian, and baroque-style buildings – a tourist spot for most. Tourism is the biggest driver of this safe and stable country’s economy, and Montenegro has more than ever been ranked as one of the world’s prime tourist destinations.

    For the World Bank record, it classifies Montenegro as one of the fastest-growing Balkan economies; over years, the nation has quickly established itself as a key strategic destination for some of the world’s most important industries.

    Citizenship by Investment Overview

    The Citizenship by Investment Program of Montenegro was developed by the Government of Montenegro and was launched in the year 2019. This was done as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to attract foreign direct investment and increase economic activity in the country. Under the program, the applicants make a defined

    The Montenegro Citizenship by Investment Program was launched by the Government of Montenegro considering their sincerest efforts to attract foreign direct investment and increase economic activity in the country.

     

    The primary candidate must participate in any recognized development project and contribute funds to a fund that has been allocated by the government for the growth of underdeveloped areas in order to meet the requirements of the citizenship program, which are quite straightforward. 

    Applicants and their families are given citizenship in return for this, subject to a rigorous selection procedure that includes background checks that are in-depth.

    Montenegrin Citizenship by Investment Prerequisites

    You must be older than 18 years old, satisfy the eligibility conditions, and make the appropriate qualifying contributions to the Montenegrin government in order to be eligible for the Montenegro Citizenship by Investment Program.

    In order to make the donations, there are two paths to select from to qualify for the program

    A contribution of EUR 450 000 to Podgorica, the country’s capital, or to coastal districts for development initiatives. Excluding Podgorica, an investment of EUR 250,000 on development projects in northern or central Montenegro

    However, the applicant must also pay a government charge of EUR 200,000 for each application, so that is definitely not the end of it. This donation will go to the Innovation Fund of Montenegro and a specific fund for the development of impoverished areas (EUR 100,000). (EUR 100,000).

    Procedures and Timeline

    All citizenship applications are filed through middlemen who have been formally authorized by the Montenegrin government for this purpose. Applications are handled in around eight to ten months after they are received by the appropriate government department.

    Dual Citizenship

    Article 8 of the Montenegrin citizenship legislation exempts successful candidates from the Citizenship by Investment Program from the nation’s limitations on dual citizenship. 

    According to Article 12 of the local legislation, people may be given citizenship in extraordinary cases based on their particular contributions (such as economic interest to the nation), which includes successful program candidates.
