    Jordan Citizenship By Investment Program

Strategically positioned at the crossroads of Asia, Africa, and Europe, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, is a very stable and absolutely business-friendly location. What makes Jordan amazing is the fact that it is a rather outstanding combination of the ancient and modern worlds, right from the historic archaeological site of Petra to its capital Amman, the country’s economic, cultural, as well as political center.

Jordan: A Quick Guide to the Country

Named for the Jordan River passing on the country’s western border, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is one of the most politically liberal countries in the region, living amazingly to their commitment of absolute stability and peace.

This Southwest Asian nation gained independence from the UK in the year 1946 and is a key ally of the USA. But that is definitely not all about it, Jordan also holds friendly relations with its neighbours in the region; it is a member state of the League of Arab States and has a peace treaty with Israel.

What makes Jordan so amazing is the influence of many eras of varied civilizations, all of which are evident in Jordan’s intricately designed mosques and other architectures – the traditional with geometrical designs, the gold market, spice market, and various handicrafts.

Folk visual art, including tapestry, embroidery, leather, pottery, and ceramics, apart from a rather modest film industry add creative character to this traditional nation, inviting people from across the world to learn about it and get the citizenship.

Jordan, which is entirely landlocked and is part of the Northern Arabian Peninsula, is situated in a prime position to benefit from its near proximity to both Israel and Saudi Arabia to the west and south, opening up new commercial and investment opportunities. Speaking of its capital, the city Amman is a considerable and major commercial as well as a transportation center in the region (with the Port of Al-‘Aqabah lying on the coastline).  Furthermore, Amman is also a key Arabic cultural center and Jordan is, therefore, regarded integral to the Arab world.

Although the natural landscape is the desert kind (Syrian, part of the Arabian Desert) and accounts for four-fifths of the country’s land mass, the climate here still seems to be pretty well affected by the Mediterranean Sea that lies close by and varies from Mediterranean to the west and desert in the east and south.

    Community and Sanctuary

The kingdom of Jordan’s population mostly consists of Jordanians, four-fifths of whom reside in urban areas, particularly Amman, Al-Zarqāʾ, Irbid, and Al-Ruṣayfah. The nation’s life expectancy is around 75 years, and the crime rate is relatively low- something that people who are looking for citizenship here definitely need to bear in mind.

The second-largest population group is the Palestinians. Notably, Jordan is the only Arab country to grant citizenship status to Palestinian refugees on a wide scale. The nation also provides sanctuary to Syrian and Iraqi refugees who fled the Syrian Civil War and the Iraq War, respectively.

    Dynamics of Economy and Trade

The Jordanian economy is relatively small but well-diversified. This emerging market has plenty of potential for investment, and that is why investment is one of the greatest ways to get complete citizenship of the country.

Furthermore, trade and finance make up one-third of the nation’s GDP, and the services sector (retail sales, public administration, and defense) accounts for most of the employment opportunities that are available here for the citizens as well as the residents in general.

The primary exports in Jordan include clothing and chemicals and chemical products and the export destination include Iraq, nearby Saudi Arabia, and the USA, while the main importers include China, Saudi Arabia, the USA, and the European Union.

    Historic Sites and Tourism

The nation majorly depends on tourism and attracts visitors from around the world for its architecture, weather, and beauty. Foreign nationals visit the country several times to tour the many historical religious sites here and take back amazing stories. The ancient biblical kingdoms of Edom, Gilead, and Moab lure thousands to the kingdom.

The ancient Roman city of Petra lies in Southern Jordan and has been ranked in the UNESCO World Heritage Site status, giving people enough reasons to visit here the next time. One of the famous Wonders of the World, Petra is also known as the ‘Rose City’ or the ‘Red City’ for the hue of the stone used to build the city.

Activities in the Arts, Culture, and Sports

The art scenes in Amman, Irbid, and Jaresh boast museums, theatres, and the annual Jerash Festival of Culture and Arts, something even the locals here enjoy and feel proud of. Held in July every year, the festival was established in the year 1981 by Queen Noor and is documented as one of the largest cultural activities in the region of Jordan. What makes this festival absolutely popular is that it features visual and performance art shows by Jordanian, Arab, and foreign artists ranging from pop music to ballet, to spoken word poetry to theatre productions. Jareth city is a preserved ancient Roman citadel with original amphitheaters, and, in July, its ruins come alive with festivity.

Apart from this, the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts proudly displays a collection of contemporary Arab sculptures, paintings, and ceramics. Jordan has no shortage of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, with the ancient ruins at Petra, Qar Amrah, and Umm al-Rasas all holding such reputations across the globe. There are also several archaeological museums that are located throughout the country for your visit.

Trekking is an amazing activity to take and the locals, as well as the residents, love trekking the Dana and Wadi Araba desert and hiking the famous Prophet’s Trail. Camel and horse riding in the Wadi Araba is extremely popular, and adventure-seekers can opt for a jeep ride or a hot air balloon experience instead. Water sports in the Red Sea include snorkeling, diving to sunken ships for treasure, water skiing, paragliding, and windsurfing.

The nation’s airports, chief among them being Queen Alia International Airport near Al-Jīzah (south of Amman) and Amman and Al-ʿAqabah’s smaller international airports, allow for ultimate ease of travel into and out of the kingdom.

    CITIZENSHIP

The Jordan Citizenship by Investment Program permits foreign nationals to make an investment in the country, followed by applying for alternative citizenship here. Jordan is a relatively calm country in a turbulent region, and access to Jordanian citizenship is therefore appealing to applicants from nearby countries faced with socio-political challenges.

All the Details on Jordan's Citizenship by Investment Program

Prospective investors are in a prime position to profit from the kingdom’s close proximity to Israel to the west and Saudi Arabia to the south, opening up a wider range of business and investment opportunities. Jordan is almost entirely landlocked and is ideally situated in the Northern Arabian Peninsula.

The Jordan Citizenship by Investment Scheme is the most effective approach for anybody who wants to get citizenship in this multicultural and peaceful Arab nation. It is pretty obvious that the Jordanian government welcomes affluent foreigners who seek to spend significantly and suitably in the nation in order to strengthen its economy through foreign direct investment, offering them the benefit of obtaining citizenship of the nation. Through this scheme, people and the members of their immediate families can become citizens of Jordan in as little as three months.

Requirements of Jordanian citizenship by investment

A foreigner seeking citizenship in Jordan must invest in one of the following: a bank deposit, treasury bonds, securities, small- or medium-sized businesses, or a local initiative that would create jobs.

Candidates must complete one of the nation’s investment requirements, which are as follows:

    • Treasury bonds and bank deposits
deposit $1 million in zero-interest funds with the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) for a minimum of three years; and

Purchase treasury bonds of USD $1,000,000 held for a minimum of six years at an interest rate determined by the CBJ.

According to this choice, the candidates must stay in the kingdom for at least one month before being given citizenship.
    • The company's shares or units
Purchase Jordanian company shares and/or units worth at a minimum of USD 1.5 million, as long as they have been held for at least three years and have a temporary seizure notice from the Companies Control Department and/or Jordan Securities Commission.
    • Small and medium-sized businesses
Any location in the Amman governorate must have an investment project with a minimum capital of USD 1 million (USD 750,000 for a project registered outside of Amman), as long as the project generates at least 20 employment opportunities (reduced to at least 10 opportunities for Jordanians for a project in a governorate other than Amman), in accordance with the Social Security Corporation's statements. As part of the application procedure, it is essential to submit the supporting documentation for the investment.

Advantages of the Citizenship by Investment Program for Jordan

    • 52 countries offer visa-free or visa-on-arrival access.
    • Citizenship is granted to the entire family, including the primary applicant's spouse, children (including any daughters and sons under 18 who are not married, widowed, or divorced), and dependent parents.
    • Citizenship in a Middle Eastern nation that is mostly peaceful
    • Citizenship from a nation that actively participates in the UN and is a World Trade Organization member.

    Procedures and Timeline

The requirement that applications for Jordanian citizenship include fully filled-out application forms, be accompanied by the appropriate fees, and be accompanied by supporting documentation is one of the most crucial things that applicants are expected to note. Applications that are incomplete will be rejected.

The eligibility criteria are applied to a maximum of 500 cases annually, following the various security clearances and confirmations of the applicant’s financial adequacy which help in determining the success of the applicant in citizenship. The requirements are reviewed and evaluated every six months and are not applied retroactively.

The applicant may even select the preferred investment channel, which might be a bank deposit and treasury bonds, firm shares and/or units, or an entity that creates jobs, once preliminary due diligence has been done.

The application for Jordanian citizenship may be approved if eligibility is established and the supporting documentation is complete and complies with all requirements once it has been submitted to the appropriate government committee and additional due diligence checks have been successfully completed.

Following the applicant’s fulfillment of the chosen investment, they (and their included family members) receive a Jordanian passport. Citizenship applies to the main investor, spouse, children (unmarried, widowed, or divorced daughters and sons under 18), and dependent parents.
