    The lovely Baltic country Latvia is one of Europe’s most inexpensive countries, with plenty of opportunities for foreigners. A significant share of the country’s workforce is foreign-born. This small country, sandwiched between Estonia and Lithuania, has a population of about two million people and is rich in natural beauty.

    Living in Latvia

    Latvia is located on the Baltic Sea in Northern Europe. Latvia attracts people from all over the world due to its rich heritage, amazing local food, and gorgeous combination of art nouveau and medieval buildings. The official language is Latvian, but the majority of the population speaks Russian.

     

    Latvia is noted for being a WiFi hotspot. In emerging Europe, the country has one of the fastest broadband internet speeds. Furthermore, Riga has over 800 free connection sites. Forests cover more than half of Latvia’s land area.

    Latvia citizenship

    Citizenship can be earned after five years of lawful residence in Latvia if the applicant has been a permanent resident in Latvia for the five years prior to the date of application submission. To be eligible for citizenship, an applicant must have lived in Latvia for at least four of the previous five years.

     

    After ten years of residency in Latvia, applicants can petition for citizenship if they have lived in Latvia for the majority of that time. After a minimum of five years of residence in Latvia, the person can apply for Latvian Permanent Residence. They must have spent at least four years in the country and be fluent in the language, basic history, and national anthem.

    Latvia Residence by Investment: A gateway to Europe.

    Latvia is considered one of the world’s most beautiful and green countries. The country is a wonderful location to live in, and practically everyone communicates in English. If you invest in the country, you may be eligible for residency.

     

    The Latvia Immigrant Investor Program offers four investment opportunities, one of which is real estate. Approved applicants can apply for a 5-year resident visa under the Latvia RBI program, after which they can seek permanent residency. They are eligible for Latvian citizenship after another 5 years of permanent residency. Latvia’s passport is one of the best in the world, allowing visa-free travel to the United States and free movement throughout Europe.

    Latvian residence by investment requirements

    The Latvia Residence by Investment Program offers a variety of qualifying possibilities for obtaining a residence permit. One of the following options is available to applicants.

    • The main applicant must be at least 18 years old to be eligible. Spouses, minor children, financially dependent children, and parents can all be considered dependents. Along with the main applicant, all dependent family members are eligible to apply for a Latvia Residence Permit. The residency permit is good for five years and must be renewed annually.
    • A one-time contribution of EUR 10,000 to the state budget, plus a EUR 50,000 investment in the equity capital of a Latvian firm (assuming that the company pays at least EUR 40,000 in taxes annually).
    • By investing €50,000 in a Latvian firm and paying a minimum of €40,000 in tax every year, investors can obtain a five-year residency visa. In addition, the investor must provide a one-time donation to the government of €10,000. There are additional application and processing fees.

    Procedures and time frames

    Document processing can take anywhere from 30 to 90 days. The applicant’s family members, such as his or her spouse and minor children, may apply for a residence permit with him or her. Depending on the location, invest at least €250,000 in one or two properties. The property’s cadastral value must be at least €80,000. Additional government fees of 5% of the real estate acquisition price must be paid upon approval, as well as a 2% stamp duty for title registration.

    Residence requirement

    Flexible, There are no residency requirements. To renew a residence permit, no minimum number of days of physical presence in Latvia is required.

    Citizenship and a permanent residence permit.

    After a minimum of five years of residence in Latvia, the person can apply for Latvian Permanent Residence. After ten years of residency in Latvia, applicants can petition for citizenship if they have lived in Latvia for the majority of that time. In addition, the applicant must have demonstrated knowledge of Latvian history and the national hymn. Dual citizenship is permitted in Latvia if the second citizenship is that of a NATO member state.
